21st Century Steam will bring historic steam locomotives from TVRM in Chattanooga, to communities along Norfolk Southern lines.
As part of the Norfolk Southern 21st Century Steam Program, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) will be offering a limited number of public excursions. General admission seating will be provided in climate-controlled coaches with comfortable seats and large windows.
Saturday & Sunday, May 17 & 18: Cincinnati, OH to Danville, KY - The New Royal Palm ~ This trip will operate over Norfolk Southern’s Central Division First District main line (Cincinnati-owned CNO&TP route toward Chattanooga) on a 234-mile round trip. This train will traverse the heart of Kentucky’s Bluegrass region on a very scenic and historic line, well known for stone fences and horse farms. The train will also cross the Kentucky River near Lexington on the famous High Bridge, which is the highest double track railroad bridge in the United States at 312 feet above the river. Departure from Norfolk Southern’s Intermodal Yard* in Cincinnati will be at 8:00am, arriving in Danville around 12:30pm for an approximate 2-hour layover*. Departure from Danville should be around 2:30pm with return to Cincinnati scheduled for approximately 6:00pm. A commissary car will be included on the train selling snacks, soft drinks, and light food. A gift shop will also be featured on board for those wishing to purchase souvenir items.

Tickets: Starting at $87 per seat for passengers age 3 & up, as shown below. Everyone age 3 & up requires a ticket; under 3 is no charge if not occupying a seat, no food included.
Coach Class: $87 (without meal – see note about commissary car above.) Coach Class seating is provided in temperature controlled modern cars with non-reclining seats.
Deluxe Coach: $97 (without meal – see note about commissary car above.) Deluxe Coach seating is provided in climate controlled vintage cars with reclining seats.
