Covington, KY – The 7th Annual Kenton County Farm Harvest Tour will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017.  This is a down-on-the-farm family fun activity in which all local families can participate.  The theme this year is “Cooking in the Country.” Farmers along the way are getting in on the culinary fun this year, as they are sharing copies of their favorite family recipes with visitors.

“This year we are pleased to have an official Farm Tour Chef,” said Dan Allen, Kenton Agent for Agriculture.  “Taylor Mill resident and personal chef, Alison McElfresh has more than 25 years of cooking and culinary training,” continues Allen. Her resume includes diverse experiences from vegan to a stint at the legendary Maisonette in Cincinnati.  She has created a series of delicious recipes utilizing ingredients grown locally.  Her Lamb with Blackberry Glaze is featured on the official Farm Tour brochure. In addition to root vegetables, local Blackberry wines and jams are featured for the perfect glaze for locally raised lamb.  Other recipes by Alison may be found on the 2017 Kenton County Farm Harvest Tour website.

The 2017 self-guided tour will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 5:00 PM.  Atwood Hill Winery and Redman’s Farm and Winery are both open until dark.

Maps of the farm tour locations are available at the Kenton County Extension Office at 10990 Marshall Road, Covington or on-line at Kenton County Extension's website.  All branches of the Kenton County library will also have brochures available.

The hosting farms are Balanced Brilliance Organic Farm, Rising Phoenix Farm, Triple J Beef and Goat Farm, Ed-Mar Dairy, Atwood Hill Winery, Free Radical Ranch, Honey Locust Farm, Morning View Heritage Area, Poverty Hollow Farm, Triple D Stone Valley Farm, Redman’s Farm & Winery, School House Bees, Milestones Therapeutic Riding Center, Kenton County Extension Office,    Independence Farmer’s Market, and Kenton County Public Library, Durr Branch.
